MY RUIN Frontwoman Begins Physical Therapy Following Car Accident
November 5, 2006MY RUIN lead vocalist Tairrie B., who was "seriously injured" in a car accident in late September, has issued the following message via the group's MySpace page:
"Mick [Murphy, MY RUIN's guitarist and Tairrie's boyfriend] and I went to my first day of physical therapy this last week. It was time to get a few things holding me together removed. It was quite a heavy afternoon. I asked Mick to document my day so I could share it with you and have it to look back on as I remember all that I went through (gotta love the fine art of videotaping). We filmed the rehab but I decided not to put it in the video because it was a bit more personal and intense (believe it or not) than the wound being undressed. We plan to keep filming every step taken along the way.
"Rehab was pretty hard on me. I am still not able to open my arm straight or close my fingers and hand. However, the therapist did manage to hold my fingers together in a ball for a short time and while it hurt like hell, it also let me know that it could be done. (The next day I woke up for the first time in weeks and felt my hand.) It seems I will be going to rehab 2-3 times a week starting this week as we begin recording vocals. They are making me a special brace to wear which we be molded to fit me and help my arm straighten.
"The footage from my plastic surgeon's office is a whole different feel and mix of emotions but I think I made the best of it. I was feeling really good after rehab and my attitude was lighter. I think my pain medication finally kicked in a bit as well.
Even though I have seen all the gruesome pics, I have to admit that I was a little afraid about finally seeing my wound up close and personal in living color.
Your mind can really fuck with you in times like this. And so can your eyes. When I watch the footage back, on one hand it's hard to look at because of the severity of it all and on the other it feels amazing to see the progress. So here is...... my day of ALL SAINTS with a few STITCHES & STAPLES."
